On 8/23/2018 our team talked with an Engineer from Ball Aerospace about the challenges of space engineering. Her projects have included:
- COS (cosmic origins spectrograph) for Hubble Space Telescope
- OMPS (ozone mapping profiler suite) for JPSS (Joint Polar Satellite System)
- On-orbit software maintenance for two instruments on Spitzer spacecraft
What we talked about:
- Getting satellites into space is difficult and takes a long time and a lot of planning
- Discussed programming the equipment on different space craft
- Found additional people that might be able to help with our project
