Interview with an Engineer at Ball Aerospace

On 8/23/2018 our team talked with an Engineer from Ball Aerospace about the challenges of space engineering.  Her projects have included:

  1. COS (cosmic origins spectrograph) for Hubble Space Telescope
  2. OMPS (ozone mapping profiler suite) for JPSS (Joint Polar Satellite System)
  3. On-orbit software maintenance for two instruments on Spitzer spacecraft

What we talked about:

  1. Getting satellites into space is difficult and takes a long time and a lot of planning
  2. Discussed programming the equipment on different space craft
  3. Found additional people that might be able to help with our project
